One More Chance
Have I told you yet? If I have, I apologize…I get more and more forgetful! Told you what? That I’ve become a football coach again. Yes, I’ve been given one more chance to stand in front of a group of young men and be called “Coach.” Its exciting…one more opportunity to serve Christ on the athletic field.
Several weeks ago, I was driving down the road…minding my own business, when
the “call” came. A. P. Brewer
is a large school in North Central Alabama and they were looking for a new
football coach. At first I told
them I had to stay retired, and to my surprise, they liked the idea.
I could simply come in the afternoon and coach football.
You can do that in
Well, I prayed for a couple of days and before I knew it, I’m Coach Coleman
again. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell
you.
But you know what? I’m
excited…I’m optimistic…I’m eager.
Already I have made new relationships with a group of young men who I
think are ready to accept a challenge. Soon
we will start our spring practice and I would like to ask for your prayers.
Pray that we will keep our priorities straight…that Christ will be
glorified and reflected in our lives…that young people will come to know
Christ personally in their lives. There
are the standards of the world…and there are the standards of Christ…and
they are not the same.
One more chance to build a bridge…one more chance to throw a starfish into
the ocean…one more chance to play the game in His image…one more chance to
work for His glory.
One more chance…I’m excited! Thanks
be to God!
