2006?
Surely Not!
I just have one question. What happened to 2005? I was just starting to get the year right on what few checks I write. If 2001 was a “space odyssey,” then perhaps 2006 is the year of the “twilight zone”!
And what exactly will 2006 hold for each of us as a servant of Christ. I would suspect plenty of opportunities to share God’s love with the world…possibilities of making a difference in someone’s life…a chance to reflect the light of Christ to all around us…maybe to help feed a starving person…help clothe someone cold…visit the lonely…cheer up those who are sad…comfort the desperate…love the unlovable.
What will 2006 bring to us? A new way of looking at the world through the eyes of Christ…a deeper love of best friend and a miracle prayed for…a light that drives away the darkness…a peace that passes all understand…a forgiveness undeserved…grace that is unmerited…acceptance in the face of failure…hope in the midst of futility.
May 2006 not just be “another year.” May it forever bless all of human history with a greater awareness of God’s love for each of us and opportunities to love others as Christ has loved us. May we all “decrease so Christ can increase”!
It can happen…the choice is mine…and yours…the way is the love of Christ in us and through us.
