Billy Coleman

Grace Extension Ministries

A native of Sylacauga, Alabama, Billy Coleman served young people in education for twenty-five years as a teacher, coach and principal.  He was a successful high school football coach for seventeen years and received “coach of the year” honors both in Walker and Cullman Counties.  In 1994, Billy became Principal at West Point High School near Cullman and was named Alabama Administrator of the Year in 1999.

Billy retired in October of 2002 to begin a career in writing and to continue speaking to groups, something he has done for over 33 years.  In November of 2002, Billy’s first book “Called to Live”, was published.  A second book, “He Always Holds Up The Heavy End”, came out several months ago.  Both have had an overwhelming response.  The books focus on serving Christ through the eyes of an educator, coach and principal.

Billy has spoken for Christ to just about every kind of group imaginable, from church functions to school assemblies.  He recently spoke at the 2004 Alabama Legislative Prayer Breakfast.  He is a spokesman for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has led the coaches’ Bible study at the National FCA Camp in Black Mountain, North Carolina.

Grace Extension Ministry was founded almost two years ago and is an outreach program through Billy’s writing and speaking.  This web site has been set up to be available to anyone interested in his books or with a speaking opportunity.  The phone number is (256) 775-0007.

Billy and his wife Shireen live in Vinemont, Alabama, with their two sons, Wesley and Ryan, both of whom attend Auburn University.  Billy recently resumed his coaching career by being named the head football coach at Brewer High School in North Central Alabama.  He will remain retired while coaching there and will continue his writing and speaking ministry.

God Bless!
